HEARING AID FITTING POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

The results of your hearing evaluation and medical examination indicate that your particular hearing loss cannot be treated further surgically or with medication. However, your hearing test results do suggest that you may benefit from the use of amplification. Should you decide to try hearing aids, our clinic is equipped to provide complete hearing aid services and offer the latest in hearing aid technology. Our Audiologists on staff are knowledgeable in hearing aids and are able to assist you in your decision and use of hearing aids.

Fitting Procedures
All hearing aids are obtained on a thirty (30) day trial basis. On the average, three visits are required to our clinic. During the first visit, impressions will be made of your ear/s. Custom fitted hearing aids will provide you with maximum hearing ability and comfort.

Approximately two weeks later, you will return to our clinic for the fitting of your hearing aids. During this visit, you will practice listening and removing the hearing aids from your ears as well as changing the battery and adjusting the volume if your hearing aid has a volume control. In addition, you will receive information regarding the maintenance and care of the hearing aids.

One to two weeks after you receive your hearing aids, we recommend that you return to the clinic for a check up. During this visit we will discuss how your hearing aids are working for you. It is good to keep a journal of the past two weeks and make comments on how the hearing aids are working in different environments. Based on your reports, we will make the appropriate adjustments if necessary. The following items are included in the purchase of hearing aids from our clinic:

  • 30 day Trial Period
  • 2 week post fitting check up
  • 1-2 year warranty on parts depending on manufacturer

Charges
Hearing aid charges do not include the fees for the physicians examination or the hearing examination. In most instances health insurance DO NOT cover any part of the cost of the hearing aids. If you believe your insurance company will cover the cost, please contact them prior to picking up your hearing aids. No down payment is required at the time you order your hearing aids. However, payment of the hearing aids in full is expected at the time you come for your hearing aid fitting appointment.

30 Day Trial Period
All hearing aids are fitted on a thirty (30) day trial period. If you find the hearing aids are unsatisfactory for any reason and return them within 30 days of the original fitting date in good working condition, you will receive a refund less the dispensing fee.

Hearing Aid Fees
Hearing aid fees are determined by the style and technology of the hearing aid selected to meet your specific hearing needs.

Hearing Aid Batteries
We recommend that you use Zinc Air Activated batteries in your hearing aid. All Air Activated cells feature long life performance, constant voltage for fewer volume adjustments, low internal impedance for less distortion, instant-on power with no warm up time, excellent shelf life and they are environmentally safe.

These batteries may be purchased in our clinic or can be sent directly to your home. The batteries are mailed directly to your home at no additional charge. We do have a Battery Club where you may purchase 4 packages of batteries and receive 1 package free.

Hearing Aid Accessories
We offer a full line of hearing aid care products and accessories for our patients. We have cleaning tools for hearing aids and earmolds, earmold blowers, hearing aid dehumidifiers, dessicant blocks for the Dry and Store products, and hearing stethosets to check hearing aid function daily. We also carry some assistive learning devices ( for example, personal amplifiers and telephone amplifiers). Please ask one of our audiologists, they would be happy to help you.
